The Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-3 Validation is a rigorous validation process administered by the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP). The CMVP is a joint effort between the United States and Canada with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) under the Department of Commerce and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, a division of the Communications Security Establishment. It signifies that the cryptographic module has undergone thorough testing and meets the stringent security requirements mandated by the United States federal government.
